Chemical element of atomic number 26 and fourth element more abundant on earth.
It is a bluish white metal that, due to its allotropy, metastable state and characteristics that it presents when alloying with carbon and other substitution and interstitial elements, is an element of great potential in the field of materials.
It is found in nature in the mineral state and the main obtaining of this element is carried out by the reduction of the oxides by the carbon of the coke. As a pure element although it has a great plasticity, it is a good conductor of electricity and easily magnetized.
It hardly has industrial application due to its low resistance and hardness; to compensate for these properties, steel is made.
