Process of forming by plastic deformation in which the deformation of the material is produced by the application of compression forces. It can be done in hot or cold process.
It is used to give shape and specific properties to metals and alloys using high pressures.
The deformation can be performed by pressure, using presses continuously, or by impact, intermittently using pylon hammers.
There is no chip removal, this causes significant savings in material compared to other processes, such as machining.
